Duration of the tour:
6 days/5 nights

• Day 1
  Arrival in Bari Airport and transfer to Matera. Accomodation in Hotel. Dinner and typical restaurant and overnight stay.
• Day 2
  Breakfast in Hotel and morning dedicated to the visit of the city of Matera. The city of the Sassi has been declared UNESCO heritage site in 1993. This beautiful city also counts the title of European Capital of Culture 2019. Among unusual alleys and glimpses you could admire the artistic, historical and architectural beauties of the wonderful Matera. Free lunch. In the afternoon we will visit the Palombaro Lungo, the largest cistern of Matera, digged in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Afterwards, the tour will continue on the Murgia Park, where at the sunset the view becomes breathtaking. Return in Hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
• Day 3
  Breakfast in Hotel and visit of the Crypt of the Original Sin, an outstanding oratorio, which represents one of the oldest examples of rupestrian art in southern Italy. Free lunch. In the afternoon the tour continues towards Miglionico with the visit of the Malconsiglio Castle, the castle of the Conspiracy of barons. The tour continues with the visit of the Chiesa Madre “Santa Maria Maggiore”, with the Polyptych by Cima da Conegliano and the Crucifix that inspired Mel Gibson in “The Passion”. Return to Matera. Dinner in typical restaurant. and overnight stay in Hotel.
• Day 4
  Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer to reach the Lucanian Dolomites and visit of the two main hamlets. We will begin with Castelmezzano, designated “Most Beautiful Hamlet in Italy.” The urban structure of Castelmezzano is typically medieval, a concentric built up area with sandstone slab roofs embedded in a rocky hollow. Free lunch. Transfer to Pietrapertosa, another iconic hamlet of these particular geological conformations, also designated the “Most Beautiful Hamlet in Italy.” The hamlet offers wonderful and unique landscapes and it is possible to visit different places that characterize it: L’Arabata, the Norman Swabian Castle and the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore: ancient medieval fortress. Return to Matera. Dinner at typical restaurant and overnight stay in Hotel
• Day 5
  Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer to reach Craco and outside visit of the most famous “Ghost Hamlet” of Basilicata. Craco, is called the Ghost Town because of a landslide that resulted in the displacement of the whole population downstream, in the new place called “Craco Peschiera”. Free lunch. Afternoon dedicated to the city of Aliano to visit the Carlo Levi Literary Park, including The House of Carlo Levi and the museum of “Peasant Civilization.” Return to Matera. Dinner in typical restaurant and overnight stay in Hotel.
• Day 6
  Breakfast in Hotel. Transfer to airport.
